Chronic pain

Pain that has continued for longer than 3 months, whatever its original cause.

Back and neck pain

Persistent spinal pain, with or without pain travelling into the limbs.

Arthritis

Joint pain, stiffness and swelling from osteoarthritis or inflammatory arthritis.

Fibromyalgia

Widespread body pain with fatigue, poor sleep and difficulty concentrating.

Neuropathic pain

Burning, shooting or electric pain caused by nerve damage or disease.

Sciatica

Pain travelling from the lower back down the leg along the sciatic nerve.

Complex regional pain syndrome

Severe, disproportionate pain in a limb, often with swelling and skin changes.

Musculoskeletal pain

Persistent pain in muscles, tendons, ligaments or joints outside the spine.

Anxiety

Persistent worry, tension or panic that interferes with daily life.

Depression

Persistent low mood and loss of interest that affects daily functioning.

PTSD

Flashbacks, nightmares and hypervigilance following traumatic experience.

OCD

Intrusive obsessional thoughts with compulsive behaviours that are hard to resist.

ADHD

Difficulties with attention, impulsivity and restlessness that persist into adult life.

Insomnia

Long term difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, with daytime consequences.

Epilepsy

A tendency to recurrent seizures, managed by a neurology specialist.

Multiple sclerosis

An immune condition affecting the nervous system, often with spasticity and fatigue.

Parkinson's disease

A movement disorder with tremor, stiffness and slowness, plus non motor symptoms.

Migraine

Recurrent disabling headache with nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.

Cluster headache

Extremely severe one sided head pain in bouts, with eye and nose symptoms.

Tourette's syndrome

Involuntary motor and vocal tics, often with premonitory urges.

Autism spectrum disorder

A lifelong neurodevelopmental difference, often with anxiety and sleep difficulty.

Endometriosis

Tissue similar to the womb lining growing elsewhere, causing severe pain.

PMDD

Severe mood and physical symptoms in the second half of the menstrual cycle.

Menopause related symptoms

Hot flushes, sleep disruption, mood change, pain and brain fog around menopause.

Pelvic pain

Persistent pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis lasting 6 months or more.

Crohn's disease

Inflammatory bowel disease causing abdominal pain, diarrhoea and fatigue.

Ulcerative colitis

Inflammatory bowel disease of the colon, with urgency, bleeding and pain.

Cancer related pain

Pain caused by cancer itself or by cancer treatment.

Cancer related appetite loss

Reduced appetite and weight loss during cancer or its treatment.

Chemotherapy induced nausea

Nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, including anticipatory nausea.

Palliative care

Symptom control and quality of life in serious, progressive illness.
